Joined: Nov 1, Messages: Lately my downloads and page loads have been very very slow relative to what they used to be just my feel for it, I have run no download tests weeks or months ago. Tonight I checked the back of the PC to see if the Ethernet cable was loose, which it wasn't, but I did notice a red light and a yellow light on on the back of the NIC.
I don't check the back of the PC often but I could swear it used to be green Does this mean the card is failing?
I googled it and couldn't find much out.

Bob CerelliNov 29, I checked the device manager and it shows a yellow explanation point next to the device labeled Microsoft Tun Miniport Adapter. I've never even heard of this. Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information in the registry is incomplete or damaged.

I never really looked before but the cable appears to plug into the back of the PC and seems connected to a small box inside the PC Any other thoughts? Maybe if I buy a separate NIC and use it instead of what it's using now??

Dellprescott P4 3. I recently just upgraded from 2GB of OCZ memory to a total of 4 about two weeks prior to experienceing any problems. Windows has been going through updates and the latest batch was just prior to any problems.
When I open Internet Explorer it will display that the page cannot be found. There is an option on this display to test the internet connection.
When I run this test it reports that my connection is working perfectly. My original HD died after less than two years and I am currently running on the second one. With this setup it appears that there is no driver installed for the ethernet adapter. I will attempt to install a driver if I can figure out what driver I need. I am a little lost on what to look for in trouble shooting this problem.
I do not know how to check what type of ethernet adapter I have in order to find a driver for it. Under networks it only shows a real generic ethernet connection and not the broadcom etc. The red and green lights that usually flash when a ethernet cable is installed are not lit. We remove the energy cable and with no energy we turn on the computer.
We wait for the orange led to died down. We connected the cable and turn the computer on. This worked for us. Probably the HW was locked in a state that cannot be removed. Then reinstall it. If it will not re-install or does not work after re-installation, go to BIOS and run a hardware scan.
Your card is probably fried. I hope this works for you! Sounds like the network adapter's fried. I'd say run a hardware scan and if it doesn't pick up, you should get a new network adapter.
